Citizen TV has lost top talent to British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

Elphas Kiptoo Lagat was recently poached by the international media house after working with Citizen Television for at least five years.

He reported to his new work station on Monday.

Lagat could not hide his joy after joining his dream station.

“Day one at BBC. I noticed quickly that I came overdressed. Everyone has been welcoming me and really friendly. I am thrilled and grateful for this new chapter,” he wrote on his Twitter handle.

The 28-year-old joins a growing list of Kenyan journalists who have been tapped by BBC from local TV and radio stations.

They include Sylvia Chebet, Victor Kiprop, Esther Kahumbi, Ferdinand Omondi, Mercy Kandie, Emmanuel Igunza, Maya Hayakawa, Peter Mwangangi and Grace Kuria.

Lagat’s fans and colleagues have wished him well in the new journey.

Victor Kiprop: “Congratulations and welcome to the team bro.”

Anne Soy: “Ah, I didn’t know it was your day one. Lovely to see you in the office. Welcome.”

Terryanne Chebet: “Congratulations Elphas! Onwards and upwards.”

Esther Koimett: “Congratulations and best wishes in this new chapter of your career path.”

Timothy Otieno: “Well in brother. All the best in the new journey.”
