Ex Standard Digital scribe has disclosed details of the last conversation he had with a traffic officer who was killed in a grisly road accident that occurred along Valley Road on Friday, December 3.
The police officer was knocked down after a Public Service Vehicle lost control and moved to ram the cop, killing him on spot.
The journalist, Geoffrey Mosuku, who was dismissed by Standard Media and was a close friend to the officer said that he learned of the accident via a phone call.
Mosuku reported that he telephoned the officer who was controlling traffic at Valley Road and Ralph Bunche Road several times but was unable to reach him. Little did he know that he had lost his life in the line of duty.
“The lifeless body of my friend Kilimani based traffic cop Sergeant Mustapha Lolo at Valley Road after he was hit by a matatu that lost control near CITAM church. Someone inquired about the huge traffic along Valley Road and my first instinct was to call him; little did I know he was gone. Just like that. Mustapha goes well. I can’t believe it, man you are gone!” he stated.
His body was moved to Chiromo Mortuary while the other five victims who were injured in the accident sought treatment at a nearby health facility.
Nairobi Head of Traffic, Joshua Omukata, confirmed the incident adding that six vehicles got damaged in the mishap that took place on Friday evening.
“We have lost a dedicated officer in the accident and some people were injured,” noted.
The police interrogated the driver of the matatu who was lucky to survive the accident. The driver stated that he lost control after the bus lost breaks while he was driving along the highway. The matatu was stopped after it finally hit a wall beside the road.
