Kenyan musician Mario Kasela AKA Trio Mio as he is known in the media circles is set to perform at Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja event held at Kasarani, Nairobi.
Azimio la Umoja is a political event hosted by Raila as an arena to make an announcement on his quest for Presidency ahead of the 2022 General Elections.
Trio took to Twitter to announce that he will be among the entertainers lined to perform at the political event whose attendees are expected to be thousands of people drawn from all over the country.
Following his announcement, Netizens told off the former premier for using a minor as a campaign tool to woo the voters in the sense that Trio is a form three student and he is only aged 17 years. An underage, according to the Kenyan Constitution which recognizes persons aged 18 years and above to be adults.
In a quick rejoinder, his mother Irma Sakwa was quick to defend him, pointing out that the new-age sensation was an apple of the eye to the majority of the youths.
“My son’s music appeals to the young generation. Raila Odinga representatives told me that they’d like to leverage on his influence to reach out to youthful voters,”
“I agreed that my son can entertain guests at the function.” Irma, who also doubles up as his manager said.
She commented on the video that Trio had posted on his social media pages saying that his son is only set to perform at the event and not campaigning for Raila.
“Trio only asked his fans to grace the event to see him perform, and that is what artists do when they have been called for concerts.” She asserted.
