Turkish Engin Firat Named as New Harambee Stars coach

The Football Kenya Federation has appointed Engin Firat as the new Harambee Stars head coach on a two-month contract.

The Turkish manager replaces Jacob ‘Ghost’ Mulee who parted ways with FKF on mutual consent on 15th September 2021.

Firat will be assisted by Kennedy Odhiambo and William Muluya. Jerim Onyango will be the new Goalkeeping Coach.

Firat holds a Uefa Pro Coaching License and was most recently attached to the Moldova National team.

He has previously had coaching stints in the Iranian Super League with Saipa, Folad Tabriz, and Sepahan, as well as the Iranian national team.

“I am motivated and excited about the challenge. I am confident that we can get the positive result we desire in this qualification campaign,” Firat told the FKF official website.

For his part, FKF president Nick Mwendwa said: “We are impressed by his professionalism. He’s one of the best in Turkey and we want to work with him in our Qatar 2022 (FIFA World Cup) project,” said FKF President

Coach Firat’s assignment will be the upcoming 2022 Fifa World Cup Qualifiers against Mali, away and home, on 8th and 12th October, 2021, respectively.
