The five were arrested by police officers from Homa Bay police station at midday Monday taking alcohol while locked inside a bar.

Confirming the incident to KNA, Homa Bay County Police Commander Esther Seroney said that the police officers acted on a tip-off from members of the public who saw them gaining entry into the premises.

Seroney added that the five were arrested for flouting the government ban on bars and restaurants from operating as one of the ways to contain the spread of coronavirus in the country.
