Presidential aspirants Musalia Mudavadi and Deputy President William Ruto have entered a new pact to work together.
The major announcement was made on Sunday, as Mudavadi launched his Presidential bid in a grand ceremony attended by Ruto and several other political leaders.
Ruto who is the UDA Presidential flag bearer declared a series of rallies lined up starting this Wednesday to drum up support for the newly formed alliance with Ford Kenya and William Kabogo’s Tubebe party ahead of August 9 polls.
The DP who graced the ANC national delegates’ conference that endorsed Musalia revealed that the two had been having talks geared towards working together.
He said the joint political effort will commence with back to back rallies starting in Nakuru Wednesday, Western Kenya on Friday and the third one in Central Kenya on Saturday.
“We have heard in-depth discussions with my brothers. We will make whatever sacrifices that need to be made to take Kenya to the next level, this will take the hand of God and the people of Kenya” the DP said.
“The journey to bring this unity together has started in Bomas, our next stop will be in Nakuru, Wednesday, Friday in Western, and Central Kenya on Saturday. We will tell you what the journey will look like. Ours will be a discussion, conversation and a journey involving millions of Kenyans, time is of the essence and it is about time” he stated.
Ruto described Musalia as a man who is tested, focused and able to drive the nation’s agenda with his ‘Uchumi Bora, Pesa Mfukoni economic model.
“ Mudavadi has spoken for many Kenyans and to the heart of our nation. I am confident that he is equal to the task. Today marks a turning point to the politics of Kenya, a new page to the political discourse of this nation” said Ruto in reference to Mudavadi’s speech.
He pledged to work together with other like-minded parties, promising to raise the bar of political leadership in Kenya.
He added that the coming together of the two sides is a consolidation of UDAs bottom-up approach and ANC’s Uchumi Bora Pesa Mkufukoni.
“The only two candidates who have identified the economy as the place to begin from is ANC and UDA. The coming together of the two will have a chance to deal with the challenges facing our nation. Hustlers need Uchumi Bora which must start at the bottom” he said.
Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula hailed Mudavadi for his boldness noting that no politician is limited. He added that Mudavadi’s political stand had forced some rivals to go back to the drawing.
Former governor William Kabogo said it was a new dawn for Kenya and was on board since ANC and his party Jibebe shared the same vision.
