The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has picked former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar as the party’s gubernatorial candidate.
This is after he was officially nominated by the UDA party in a consensus attained on Wednesday, 13th April.
The meeting was chaired by the UDA party leader and Deputy President William Ruto at his official Karen residence, Nairobi.
Khamisi Mwaguya will contend for the Senate seat while Fatma Bakari Barayan will contend for the Women Representative position.
“We are glad the Mombasa UDA team has reached a consensus on Hassan Omar Hassan as its gubernatorial candidate and Fatma Bakari Barayan as the Women Rep. contestant,” DP William Ruto said.
Omar is set to face off with either Mvita MP Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir or Suleiman Shahbal who are battling for the ODM ticket.
The battle for the Mombasa gubernatorial seat has also seen the entrance of the current Mombasa Deputy Governor Dr William Kingi who recently joined the Pamoja Africa Alliance (PAA) party.
The DP said the parliamentary slots will be filled by Mohamed Ali (Nyali), Mbarak Hamid (Kisauni), Karisa Nzai Mnyika (Jomvu), Isaac Malilah (Changamwe), Omar Shallo (Mvita) and Mohamed Mwahima (Likoni).
