President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday conferred State Commendations to 10 Kenyans for their outstanding services rendered to the nation in various capacities.
The ten individuals were feted at the newly commissioned Uhuru Gardens during the 59th Madaraka Day celebrations.
For the Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart (MGH) Uhuru awarded Nzioka Waita and Lawyer Paul Ndung’u.
Waita, served as the State House Chief of Staff and Head of the President’s Delivery Unit where he provided leadership and oversight in the implementation of key government development projects.
Speaking shortly after receiving the award, Waita paid tribute to President Uhuru Kenyatta for his support and guidance.
“I am humbled to receive this award from my boss President Uhuru Kenyatta. I am privileged to have served under his dedicated leadership, which prioritized professional project management under the Presidential Delivery Unit,” Waita said
On the other hand Ndung’u Chaired the Ndung’u Land Commission whose recommendations have been critical in shaping the land laws in Kenya. He currently serves as Board Chairman of the St Johns Ambulance.

On the Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS), the President feted Brigadier Joseph Maina Murashia for his outstanding leadership in theconstruction and commsioning of Uhuru Gardens and Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang’ata.
Brigadier Caroline Mutisya was also awarded for her contribution in the implementation ten major projects across various Government ministries.
Under the Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS), Uhuru recognized Prof Sang Kiprop for his role in the Guinea Worm eradication program and the elimination of Malaria in Kenya.
Dr Weston Wakasiakaa Fistula Surgeon and Polycarp Otieno, Senior Director PDU in the Coast region were also awarded in the same category for their outstanding service their various capacities.
On the Order of the Grand Warrior of Kenya (OGW) the Head of State feted Major Hussein Weshanga, officer in charge of Repairs and Maintenance at the Kenya Shipyards in Mombasa and Kisumu, Alice Kwamboka Nyakiri, Senior Deputy Director of Pensions at the National Treasury and Jane Nduta Mwangi who served in the Covid-19 education committee and CBC taskforce.
