Uhuru Issues Statement After Raila’s Attack in DP Ruto’s Backyard

President Uhuru Kenyatta has broken his silence after goons attacked ODM leader Raila Odinga and stoned his helicopter in Kabenes, Uasin Gishu County on Friday.

Speaking in Pipeline, Nairobi City, the President described the incident as unfortunate and regrettable.

He noted that the former Prime Minister is a political heavyweight and if anything were to happen to him, the country would turn chaotic.

“I don’t understand some people, what did a chopper do to you that you can stone it? Now imagine if the stone hit the old man, Kenya would burn,” the President said.

The Head of State urged leaders to preach peach in their campaigns and teach their supporters how to be politically tolerant.

He accused Deputy President William Ruto’s camp of propagating hate among Kenyans to win votes.

“They think selling divisive agendas will win them votes. They should know that Kenyans are wise and their strategies will not be effective,” he said.

The first in command also told off those who were criticising him for endorsing the Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate.

“It is my democratic right to support whomever I want. When I say my preferred successor is Raila, I did not imply that other candidates are not good. I am appealing to all Kenyans to rally behind Raila so that our country moves forward.”

Also, the President made peace with boda boda riders, weeks after he ordered a crackdown following the sexual harassment of a female motorist along the Forest Road in Nairobi.

Dr Ruto had milked on the directive to condemn his boss for discriminating against boda boda operators.

“Let nobody lie to you that I hate you. All we want is to ensure everybody follows the law. My administration wants you to thrive in you business,” the President said.
