Uhuru Loses Another Key Ally From Mt Kenya to DP Ruto – LitKenya

President Uhuru Kenyatta has suffered yet another blow in his quest to unite his Mt Kenya backyard after yet another key ally bolted out.

Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni Wamuchomba has today, 23rd June, switch camo from the Kieleweke faction of the Jubilee Party to Deputy President William Ruto’s “hustlers’ nation”.

The lawmaker met DP Ruto at his official Karen residence in Nairobi.

Gathoni has been a staunch supporter of President Kenyattta and a key crusader of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) until recently.

Following the defeat of Jubilee candidate in the Juja Parliamentary by-election, the Kiambu MP took a sabbatical leave from active politics to decide his political future. The seat was won by Dr Ruto-linked George Koimburi of People’s Empowerment Party.

In a statement, the Woman Rep said it was clear that the second in command had wrestled the Mt Kenya vote from the President.

She noted that sticking to the Head of State’s camp was akin to committing political suicide.

A few days, Wamuchomba made the clearest indicating yet that she switching after Jubilee Party and ODM initiated talks geared towards forming a pre-election coalition.

She claimed that the fall of Jubilee was imminent.

Additionally, the first-time MP revealed that most politicians who support President Kenyatta from Mt Kenya are just bidding their time before moving to DP Ruto’s camp
