It turned a chaotic scene in East Kolwa, Kisumu county when mourners blocked the scheduled burial of Abbeny Jachiga, a renowned Luo musician who was reported dead on Thursday, saying they had not been given enough time to mourn him.
The mourners filled the already dug grave with soil demanding time to mourn the artist.
The mourners’ rowdiness informed police intervention who got themselves lobbying teargas to calm the situation that was already getting out of hand.
The musician was to be buried today in observation of the MOH protocols aimed at curbing the spread of coronavirus.
The hurried burial denied the mourners the chance to view Abbeny’s remains, prompting them to demand that he be accorded a decent send-off.
