Wangui Ngirici Bashes DP Ruto as She Dumps UDA: ‘Raila is an Option’

Kirinyaga Woman Rep Purity Wangui Ngirici has finally announced her exit from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Ngirici said she took the painful decision after Deputy President William Ruto, who is the de-facto UDA party leader, betrayed her barefacedly.

She lamented that despite investing her time and money to build and popularise UDA in Kirinyaga, the DP stabbed her in the back.

She explained that her woes began after Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru switched from Jubilee Party to UDA towards the end of August.

The lawmaker claimed that Waiguru is being favoured just weeks after UDA while all along she had been slandering the wheelbarrow party.

“I have been told that they plan to rig me out and give Waiguru the ticket. I cannot wait to be thrown under the bus. They tried to persuade me to run for Mwea parliamentary seat arguing that Waiguru should complete her two terms, but I won’t be coerced to drop my gubernatorial bid.

“I spent over Ksh20 million to make UDA vibrant in all parts of Kirinyaga, but now they are treating me like a toilet cleaner. I did a big mistake, but I’ve learned,” she said.

She declared that she will be running for governor as an independent candidate and implored the locals to reject dishonest leaders.

“Don’t vote for a person just because they are in a certain political party. We must say not to thieves and the corrupt.”

In addition, she indicated that the DP is not her preferred presidential candidate.

“My supporters are free to vote for whomever they want as President. Even ODM leader Raila Odinga is an option you have,” she said.

Further, he hailed President Uhuru Kenyatta for initiating salient development projects in Kirinyaga.

“Let’s not pretend, President Kenyatta’s administration has achieved its mandate, especially here in Kirinyaga.”
