Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Wanjiru has become the latest elected leader from the Mt Kenya region to declare that she will stand ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The lawmaker asserted that moving forward she will not be afraid to be associated with the former Prime Minister.

Addressing members of the press in Murang’a, Sabina she has learnt a lot from the opposition chief over the last few months.

She revealed that for the longest time she believed Raila was a bad person and did not mean well for Kenya, adding that it was no longer fashionable to sell Railaphobia, which has been advanced over the years.

“Raila is a leader like any other. I will be in the front line to fight Railaphobia in Murang’a. Initially, we were made to hold that Raila is not even human (laughs), we were all very much afraid of him.

“But now we have had access to him. He is a very polite person and a good family man. He is considerate and a down-to-earth person,” she said.

Sabina, who is eyeing the Murang’a gubernatorial seat, noted that the AU High Commissioner of Infrastructure and Roads has made sacrifices for the country and 2022 is his right time.

“He has tried to be President several times, but I think next year is his time. Let’s just give him one term. His father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga made Mzee Jomo Kenyatta our founding President, and now it’s time we the Mt Kenya people return the favour,” Sabina said.

Other lawmakers from the region who have declared their support for Raila include National Assembly Deputy Majority Leader Maoka Maore, Kieni MP Kanini Kega, his Ndaragwa counterpart Jeremiah Kioni, and Nyeri Town’s Ngunjiri Wambugu.

Except for Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga and his Kirinyage colleague Anne Waiguru, all other governors from the vote-rich bloc have thrown their weight behind the former Premier.
