Veteran journalist and author Professor Ken Walibora’s body was discovered at the Kenyatta National Hospital by family members after he went missing on Good Friday.

It turns out he had been knocked down by a Double M matatu on Ladhies Road on the same day he went missing.

A source told Mpasho, “At the time he not driving. On him was found a Mercedes Benz car key and press card in his pocket. And a press card.”

The late professor Walibora was a lecturer at Riara University. He was in International Relations Department and headed the Languages section.

The family is yet to release details of the burial.

Walibora is not the only journalist involved in a tragic accident with a matatu.

In a span of two months, two other Nation editors have lost their lives while crossing a road.

Christine Omulando, 46, a sub-editor at The EastAfrican, had been reported missing by colleagues and family after they failed to reach her on phone.

She had reported to work on Monday, March 16, and left the office for lunch in the afternoon.

Police say a matatu veered off the road and hit pedestrians, among them Christine, before a minibus run over her. This was at Nairobi’s Khoja Mosque roundabout.

Christine died on the spot.

The other death was of Nation video editor Raphael Nzioki in early March.
