France battle with Switzerland in the last 16 of Euro 2020 as Didier Deschamps’ club look level up to a World Cup-Euros double.
Having successfully become world heroes in Russia three summers ago, the French joined this summer’s re-planned European Championship as favourites, and they did well to qualify top of Group F – the ‘group of death’ including Germany, Portugal and Hungary.
On the other side, Switzerland secured their place in the knockout stages by qualifying as one of the four promising third-placed finishers.
Swiss came third in Group A, behind leaders Italy – who beat Austria in the last 16 on Saturday – and Wales, who were excluded in the Round of 16 with a 4-0 defeat by Denmark.
France will be the favourites in Bucharest, but anything can happen in knockout football.
