Widespread power outage hits most parts of the Country

A widespread power blackout Tuesday morning disrupted business in various parts of the country after the Kiambere-Rabai transmission line went off.

Although Kenya Power did not confirm whether the hitch had caused a nationwide outage as claimed, it did admit in a statement that collapsed towers on the Kiambere – Embakasi high voltage transmission power line at 10.45 am had affected power supply.

Kenyans ignored the assurance from Kenya Power as they took to social media to complain saying it was the second massive outage in less than 24 hours.

Most parts of the country were plunged into darkness Monday evening but KPLC did not give an explanation.

“Our engineers are working to restore electricity supply as the repairs are being undertaken. An update on the restoration progress will be issued in due course. We wish to apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused”.
