Locals chanting United Democratic Alliance (UDA) warbles from Bomet County today, January 9, disrupted Ex Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary-General Wilson Sossion’s speech after he was set to address them.

Sossion was in the company of Bomet Governor Hillary Barchok and Senator Christopher Lang’at and had paid a visit to the locals to inform them of Deputy President William Ruto’s visit, which is scheduled for Monday, January 10.

After briefing the attendees of the mini-rally, the Senator passed the microphone to Sossion, who is also a nominated Orange Democratic Movement (MP), but the people protested, saying that Sossion had betrayed them for former premier Raila Odinga.

Following the objection, Sossion had to be escorted to his car by his bodyguards and left the venue immediately.

The residents expelled Sossion despite announcing his exit from ODM and joining UDA in October 2021. He had heaped praise on DP Ruto as an ideal candidate to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta as the fifth President.

“I can count you as amongst the few brave and fearless leaders to take that route in the African continent,” Sossion stated.

He said that he will use his compatible relationship with civil servants to drum up support for the DP.

However, a section of UDA allied leaders, including Senator Lang’at, had cautioned DP Ruto against totally accepting the lawmaker into the party as he can be a double agent, spying for ODM.

“He is still an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party as a member and pays full allegiance to his party boss Raila Odinga and not Ruto as he might want to make us believe, so be careful,” Lang’at explained.
