Wiper Party and Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) have jointly signed a post-election coalition agreement with the ruling Jubilee Party.
The agreement was signed at Jubilee Party’s headquarters at Pangani with Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Bomet Governor Issac Rutto present.
Last month, the Wiper Party National Executive Council authorized cooperation talks with Jubilee saying it was aimed at fostering national unity, spurring socio-political-economic development.
“This strategic move by the Party is for the greater good of the country,” said Wiper.

The two parties are part of the NASA coalition.
“We are signing a cooperation agreement. We hope this will be part of Jubilee when we sign the coalition agreement,” said Jubilee VicChairman David Murathe.
“The most important thing is bringing this country together. By finding a middle ground so as to bequeath to the next generation a more stable and secure country,” Murathe added.
On his part, Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju said that the coalition agreement is part of the President’s dream to bring the country together.
“I’m happy to host this on behalf of the President. It’s his dream to bring this country together. It’s therefore very significant in making this step,” said Tuju.
This barely comes after the Jubilee Party and KANU signed a coalition agreement last month.
CCM leader Isaac Ruto added that the agreement is part of making the sure the President delivers on his development agenda.
He said the political situation in the country had stabilized after the handshake and the country will go to the elections peacefully.
“We were the first party to do a handshake. We thank Jubilee for going out of their way to bringing us together. This is the only time we will have a peaceful time in history to the election,” he said.
