Woman allegedly killed trying to break up fight by sons

A woman has died after allegedly trying to break up a fight between her sons in Ndhiwa, Homabay County.

The incident is reported to have occurred in the wee hours of 2 am at Kamuga/Komolo in North Kabwoch location as sons went violently after each other in a domestic row.

According to area Chief Samwel Awino, the deceased, identified as Pamela Onyango, was stabbed to death while attempting to separate the suspect identified as Erick Ouma, and his younger brother who were fighting over an ox for ploughing.

“The two brothers were arguing over who owns the oxen before the argument got physical,” said Awino.

In the process of separating the two, the mother was allegedly attacked by the use of a kitchen knife by one of the sons who left her in the cold as he went back to sleep.

According to the local administrator, the deceased succumbed to injuries as she was being rushed to a health facility located in Rodi Kopany within Homa Bay town Sub County.

The suspect who also sustained injuries during the fight is currently undergoing treatment at Ndhiwa Sub County hospital under tight security as he awaits trial.

The body of the deceased was taken to the Manyatta Nursing home for postmortem.
