“May our parents not be absent when we start winning, Amen.”
These were the words of Betty N Maina, who, over the weekend honoured his parents with a special gift.
The 30-year-old build his parents a multi-million modern mansion at their village in Murang’a County.
Betty, who is a Board Member at Athi Water Works, revealed that it has taken a lot of sacrifices to put up the house.
Although she is still a tenant, the mother of two decided to build a house for his parents first.
“I had an option of buying a car or my buying a plot, but I gave them the priority,” she said.
“God honours his promises, to them that trust Him.”
Betty, who has deep connections across the political divide, brought so much life to a small, sleepy village in the Mathioya sub-county.
Guests arrived in choppers and big cars.
Some of the high-profile individuals who attended the house warming party included former presidential candidate Peter Kenneth, Water Principal Secretary Joseph Wairagu, Transport CAS Wavinya Ndeti, Murang’a Woman Rep Sabina Wanjiru Chege, and Gender CAS Beatrice Elachi.
Others were South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro, Nominated Senator Ngugi IG, Jubilee Party flag bearer in the Kiambaa by-election Kariri Njama, gospel musician Betty Bayo and top comedian Jaymo Ule Msee.
Speakers showered the youthful leader with praises, saying she will remain blessed all her life.
“What you have done is a big honour to your parents. God has seen and He will always bless you, my daughter,” Wavinya said.
Senator Ngugi said: “Congratulations on building such a beautiful house for your parents. You are forever blessed. You have set a new standard.”
