Zero Deaths as Covid-19 Caseload Hits 253,512

The Covid-19 death toll remained at 5,282 as there were no new fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health has announced.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, 3rd October Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said 103 people had tested positive bringing to 2,718,872 the number of confirmed cases countrywide.

The latest figure was derived from 4,617 samples tested. This has raised the cumulative number of tests to 1,192,605. The country’s positivity rate is at 2.2 per cent.

From the cases, 96 are Kenyans while seven are foreigners. Some 53 are males while 50 are females. The youngest is a three-year-old child while the oldest is 97.

Kagwe said 68 patients have recovered from the disease, 61 from the home-based isolation and care, while seven are from various health facilities. The total number of recoveries now stands at 247,025.

There are 444 patients currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 1,175 are in home-based isolation and care.

At the same time, 26 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 12 of whom are on ventilatory support and 14 on supplemental oxygen. No patient is under observation.

Another 130 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 129 of them in the general wards and one in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

Vaccination: As of 2nd November 2021, a total of 5,427,617 vaccines had so far been administered across the country. Of these, 3,728,033 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 1,699,584.
