373 people test positive of virus in the last 24 hrs





373 people have tested positive of COVID-19 in the Country after 4,663 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

This now brings the total number of positive cases to 33,389.

Out of the positive cases, 360 are Kenyans, 13 are foreigners, while 273 are male and 100 are female.

Health CAS Dr Rashid Aman said the youngest is a one-year-old infant while the oldest is 80-years old.

At the same time 72 people have recovered fully from the virus, 36 from the home-based care program while the other 36 are from the various hospital facilities.

The cumulative number of recoveries in the country now stands at 19,368.

Dr Aman also confirmed that 3 people succumbed to the virus bringing the cumulative number of fatalities in the Country to 567.

In terms of distribution in Counties, Nairobi leads with 117, Busia has 66, Nakuru has 37, Kisii has 32, Homabay has 15 while Kiambu has 12.

Other Counties include Kisumu with 11, Uasin Gishu with 8, Garissa, Isiolo, Narok and Taita Taveta with 7 each, Mombasa with 6, Murang’a, Migori with 5 each as well as Kajiado and Kirinyaga with 4 each.

The CAS noted that testing of the COVID-19 virus remains a challenge because of the limited testing resource.

CAS Rashid Aman cautioned Kenyans against celebrating the decrease in the number of tests in the country and called on them to continue observing measures put in place to curb the spread of the virus.
