488 Test Positive as Covid-19 Death Toll Hits 3,378 – LitKenya

The Ministry of Health has announced 488 new Covid-19 cases from 5,831 samples tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the country’s caseload to 174,773.

This has increased to 1,858,443 the cumulative number of samples tested in the country so far. The country’s positivity rate stands at 8.4 per cent.

In a statement issued on Friday, 11th June, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that from the new cases, 481 are Kenyans and seven are foreigners with 315 being males and 173 females. The youngest is a three-month-old-infant while the oldest is 94.

Some 343 patients have recovered, 69 from various health facilities countrywide while 274 are from the home-based and isolation care. The total number of recoveries now stands at 119,589.

Sadly, 16 more patients have succumbed, bringing the death toll to 3,378.

There are 669 patients admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 4,827 patients are under the home-based isolation and care programme.

At the same time,162 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 30 of whom are on ventilatory support and 113 on supplemental oxygen and 19 patients under observation.

Another 106 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 101 of them in general wards and five in High Dependency Units (HDU).
