Churchill Show comedian Paul Kimani Njoroge, famously known as MCA Tricky in the entertainment circles, has responded to claims that he was once a street kid (chokora).

In an interview on Bonga na Jalas, Tricky said that his fans misapprehended him due to the character he assumed in Churchill Show.

“I have never been a street kid, but I have interacted with them. When I was in form 2, and my scholarship ended, I came to Nairobi, and that is where I got the experience of acting like a street child. The role stuck.”

He says that he decided to act like a street kid due to his creativity and the aspiration to bring a wind of change in the comedy arena, which was dominated by almost similar acts, making it monotonous to the audience who were uncountable times left discontented.

“People would give me tips, saying they did not want me to die of hunger. When I joined comedy, I had done great research and noticed that everyone came on stage adorning a suit. I decided to do the opposite and wear rags.”

When asked what he is currently doing, Tricky says that he is focusing on his radio job at Milele FM, where he co-hosts a breakfast show with presenter Alex Mwakideu.

Tricky was poached from Radio Maisha and replaced fellow comedian Felix Odiwor alias Jalang’o after his dismissal from Milele FM.

Jalang’o now co-hosts Kiss 100 breakfast show dubbed “The Morning Kiss” alongside media personality Kamene Goro.
