Confusion as KEMRI survey indicates 2.7 million people might be having Covid-19 already

Panic as Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) survey indicate that over 2.7 million Kenyans might be having Coronavirus novel.

Reports by the researchers based on survey on 2,535 donated blood samples collected from various parts of the country indicate that antibodies in blood samples can reveal whether one was exposed or not as the antibodies could remain positive for couple of months.

“There is a large gap between the confirmed test cases identified by Rapid Response Teams in testing and tracing, and the numbers of individuals in the population that we believe have been exposed,” read the excerpt of the report.

The analysis further indicated that Nairobi County leads with 550,000 which translates to 12.4% of 4.5 million Nairobi residents, Rift Valley with 510,000, Nyanza 490,000, Central 370,000, Eastern 320,000, Western 220 and, Coast 200,000.

added that Kenyans need to be prepared and except significant covid-19 cases as majority are exposed to the novel that has sent the whole globe into panic.

The report also indicated that about 6,684 deaths will be recorded with 26,093 people suffering from serious diseases.
