Deputy President William Ruto’s tour of Gatundu North and South Constituencies in Kiambu County was marred with drama even as he stamped his political stature in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s home turf.

At Mutomo village when he made his first stopover and visit since 2017, a swarm of bees, allegedly dumped in a bucket chased a few of his supporters but could not bar him from addressing his supporters.

The bees, according to a section of locals had been dumped at the event to cause disruption, a mission that did not materialize as most of the bees landed at the village while already dead.

At Kiamwangi village, confrontations between Jubilee Party supporters and those of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ensued minutes after Ruto started to address the political gathering.

The youths who had been ferried at the remotely located village in three Githurai buses were repulsed by organizers of Ruto’s event using sticks.

Ruto continued his tour at Kiganjo, Munyuini, Gitwe among other villages before he made a major rally at Gatundu town.

At the town, yet another group of youths allied to Jubilee opposed Ruto’s tour in the area saying it was demeaning their President and son.

The youths were however turned back by Ruto supporters and organizers before the event continued without issues.

Ruto who was making his maiden visit in Gatundu South since 2017 took issue with his boss President Kenyatta over his successor’s choice.

Ruto took time to remind the Head of State how he helped him ascend to the presidency and urged him not to use the instruments of power to derail his ambitions.

Leaders allied to the DP and who joined him at Gatundu rallied locals to support Ruto saying he had the best solutions to the economic challenges troubling Kenyans.

They singled out poverty that has plunged many into mobile lending saying that Ruto’s Bottom-Up economic agenda was best suited to redeem them from sustained mobile borrowings.
