Kirinyaga Governor Ann Mumbi Waiguru has welcomed the Senate leadership changes

Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru has welcomed the Senate leadership changes effected by Jubilee Party in what she says will ensure improved service delivery to Kenyans.

On Tuesday, The Senate effected changes by the ruling Jubilee party replacing Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika from their leadership positions.

West Pokot Senator Samuel Poghisio from KANU and Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata from Jubilee Party were named the new Majority leader and Chief Whip respectively.

According to Governor Waiguru, the changes were long overdue saying the leadership was sabotaging Government programs and was not in support of the ongoing handshake pact between President Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Party leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking at Kamuthanga village, Kariti Ward in Ndia constituency, the County boss said that she supported the planned reshuffle in the upper house.

Waiguru said that the Government’s Agenda must be supported in both National Assembly and Senate and it’s leader’s must be on the same page with the Head of State.

“I support President Uhuru’s move to bring far-reaching changes in the Senate,” she said.

The Kirinyaga Governor also added that she fully supported the Post coalition agreement entered between Jubilee party and KANU saying that coalition will ensure effective delivery of services.

“We need leadership which will carry out the Party’s vision in the Senate and I would like Kenyans to support the changes,” Waiguru added.

The Governor was speaking to press after distributing foodstuffs to about 1002 individuals at Kamuthanga village.
