Jubilee Asili: Aisha Jumwa appointed interim Deputy Party Leader

Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa with the first interim Deputy Party Leader of the new Jubilee Asili, a breakaway faction of DP Ruto led Jubilee. This comes just hours after DP Ruto met with all de-whipped Jubilee MPs at the Jubilee Asili Center.

”We want to start things on the right footing. This is a new political movement in the making. Having Ms Juma as our first Deputy Party leader is the best choice. It shows how serious we are about women leadership in this country,” said a Nairobi MP who attended the meeting.

The choice of Ms Juma to be the party’s first Deputy Leader is informed by the fact that all country’s major political players are keen on having more women in political party leadership positions, as country heads towards 2022.

Jumwa, who was expelled by the ODM Party was a member of the lucrative Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) before being kicked out. She will now be replaced by her Likoni Member of Parliament Mishi Mboko.
