Kagumo Students Nabbed Plotting to Burn Dormitory

Three students from Kagumo High School located in Kiganjo, Nyeri County, were on Sunday night busted with litres of fuel.

The school principal reported the matter to Kiganjo Police Station immediately after receiving a tip from one of the security personnel.

“It was reported by principal Kagumo High School, that today 7/11/2021 at around 1800hrs he received a report from one of the watchmen namely Peter Wangungu that there was unusual movement from one of the dormitory namely Wambogo dorm,” reads part of the statement.

The principal headed to Wambogo dormitory where he found three students inside when others were taking preps in their respective classes.

“They were unable to give any reason as to why they remained inside the dorm yet other students were in class going on with their preps. Upon being searched, the three students were found with one and a half litres of kerosine, a half a litre of turpentine, and a matchbox.” He revealed.

The police officers rushed to the school and conducted a secret investigation that revealed that the three students had an objective of razing down the dormitory.

However, at around 2345hrs the other students protested by breaking down the window panes of one of the dormitories identified as Kamunge dorm.

All the students were released to go home on Monday, November 8, while the three students were arrested and placed in custody awaiting to be arraigned in court to answer to charges in respect to the law.

Recently, cases of school arson have been on the rise with schools such as Chavakali High School, Maranda High School, Buruburu Girls High School, and Kakamega High School registering incidences of school fire.
