Kenyans online have lauded Uhuru’s Youth employment programme dupped ‘Kazi Mtaani’. The brilliant initiative is part of the 8 point #EconomicStimulusPackage by Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration that focuses on offering employment to majority of youths in informal settlements.
Under the hashtag #UhuruMtaani which has been trending since morning, netizens shared different photos of visibly happy youths working on various programmes in different counties.
Optimistic netizens united in applauding Uhuru for coming up with a project that has benefitted unemployed youth across the board; educated and uneducated, in urban and in rural areas.
The Kazi Mtaani programme spearheaded by the State Department of Housing and Urban Development initially was initially geared at integrating jobless Kenyans in urban hygiene and sanitation works across 23 informal settlements where over 26000 were deployed.
In Nairobi, 10,600 Kenyans living in Mathare, Kibera, Mukuru and Korogocho have been enlisted for the NHP rollout and have been undertaking daily sanitation and environment preservation duties in the respective settlements.

The government should always be the servant of the people and not their master. Its job should be to listen, respond and deliver that which is demanded by the people. #UHURUmtaani pic.twitter.com/D0mo8u9A3f
