Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) has called on the TSC to hire 5000 more teachers ahead of the new academic year slated to begin later this month to cater for the acute shortage of teachers in the country.

KUPPET SG Akello Misori said the new academic year which will be compressed  will be more tough lest TSC hires more teachers to cater for the two new transitional exams both KSCE and the CBC.

Concerning the form one selection for the just released KCPE results, Misori urged parents to be satisfied with Secondary Schools which their students will be admitted as the Country grapples with few vacancies available in national schools.

Meawhile Misori has defended his decision of stepping down in support of Gladys Wanga for the Homa Bay Gubernatorial position on ODM ticket saying it was through a consensus.

Misori who was vying for Homa Bay County boss reiterated his commitment to campaign for Wanga and the Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
