A local man in Mombasa elated DP Ruto’s campaign trail when he rose from the crowd to gift Malindi Lawmaker Aisha Jumwa Ksh100 while in a rally in Mvita Constituency.
The man elicited cheers, and the crowd went ahead and clapped for him when the Member of Parliament (MP) acknowledged the gift amidst her speech.
“A soda for me? Thank you.” Jumwa Said.
It is said that the man was touched by Jumwa’s speech which addressed the land issues that affect the residents of the Coast by the fact that many had not been given title deeds despite them being the legitimate owners of their land.
She pointed fingers at Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga for not helping them get title deeds despite being closer to the Government and having the Coast as one of his “political bedrooms”.
“Raila and his handshake partner, President Uhuru Kenyatta, have refused to solve our land issues. But don’t worry, soon we’ll have a solution,” she stated.
“We urge you Deputy President William Ruto, when you ascend to Presidency, please start by implementing the Truth Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) report,” Jumwa added.
On his side, DP Ruto urged the Coastal residents to come together and vote for him as the fifth President after the 2022 General Elections since his Government will sort out the land headaches affecting them by issuing title deeds immediately he ascends to power.
“We must sort out land issues affecting Kenyans at large,” he stated.
“This government has issued over 500,000 title deeds over the last nine years. My Government shall prioritize the issuance of title deeds to end this squatter problem,” added the Deputy President.
Ruto was in the company of Nyali MP, Mohammed Ali, Kilifi North MP, Owen Baya, and Mombasa Gubernatorial aspirant Hassan Omar when they toured the Coast in a bid to sell their agenda ahead of the General Elections.
