Missing Kamukunji Businesswoman Rescued, One Suspect Arrested – LitKenya



Nairobi businesswoman Hafsa Mohamed Lukman, who disappeared on 15th June, has been rescued from her captors by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The 23-year-old woman, who is based at Kamukunji, was found in a dingy room in Matopeni, within Kayole, where she had been forced into a water tank.

According to the sleuths, Hafsa who was last seen at her clothing shop, was kidnapped by a criminal gang that demanded a ransom of Ksh5 million.

In a video clip recorded by the kidnappers after her disappearance, Hafsa who appeared tortured, begged her family to meet the demands of her tormentors so save her life.

Following an elaborate operation conducted by detectives from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau and the Special Service Unit, Hafsa was rescued on Sunday morning, 20th June.

“The badly shaken woman, who had visible bruises on her face and hands, was immediately rushed to hospital for medical attention,” the DCI said in a statement.

A 24-year-old suspect was arrested and is being interviewed by detectives to shed more light on the kidnapping and help in the arrest of other suspects.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has issued a stern warning to persons harbouring the intention of committing such a heinous crime that no efforts shall be spared in their pursuit.
