New Covid-19 Cases Jump to 255,088 as 109 More Test Positive

The Ministry of Health has announced 109 new Covid-19 cases from 4,994 samples tested in the last 24 hours. This has raised the national tally to 255,088.

The cumulative number of samples tested so far stands at 2,835,065. The country’s positivity rate is at 14.8 per cent.

In a statement issued on Saturday, 7th August, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that from the new cases, 91 are Kenyans, while 18 are foreigners. There are 86 males and 23 females. The youngest is a five-year-old infant while the oldest is 91.

Kagwe said 10 patients had recovered from the disease, five from the home-based care programme, while five have been discharged from various hospitals. The total number of recoveries now stands at 248,318.

The national death toll rose to 5,335 after one more patient succumbed to the virus.
