The National Police Service has criticised a report that claims its officers were mostly behind cases of sexual violence during the 2017 general elections.
In a strongly worded statement, the police rubbished the claims and accused the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) of insincerity.
In the statement the police appealed to anyone who was sexually assaulted by any Police Officer to report to IPOA for further investigations that may lead to prosecution and secure convictions.
According to the KNCHR report dubbed Silhouttes of Brutality, that was released on Wednesday, 54.5percent of cases of sexual violence reported during the elections were perpetrated by police officers.
KNCHR Chairperson Kagwiria Mbogori said the most affected areas were informal settlements with the most affected persons being women at 96.2 percent.
