Xiaomi Kenya yesterday launched the Redmi 10 in the market. The device comes as a replacement to the Redmi 9 from last year, but brings in very huge spec bumps. This will definitely be an easy recommendation from me for everyone looking for a device within the segment.
According to the company, two variants will be available in the country. These are the 64GB Storage model, and the 128GB storage version.
Redmi 10 prices:
64GB storage – KES 17,499
128GB storage – KES 18,999
You can get them from Xiaomi’s official store on Jumia. They should also be available through offline retailers, but that has not been mentioned by the company.
The Redmi 10 joins the Redmi NOTE 10 series which has been available in the market for a while now. It is easy to confuse the model names, given there should also be a Redmi 10A coming later on. That one will be part of the A-series by Redmi always priced around $99.
In terms of specs, the new device is a significant leap forward. There’s now a 6.5-inch FULL HD display supporting 90Hz refresh rate. It is still protected by Gorilla Glass 3.
The main camera is now a 50MP sensor, but the selfie camera hasn’t changed at 8MP. Redmi has opted to use a Helio G88 processor which is quite good for the performance one can expect at this price point.
You will be assured of good battery life thanks to the huge 5000mAh battery which still supports 18W fast charging over USB Type-C.
What are your thoughts on the device? Would you get it at those recommended prices? Or what other devices would you be considering? Let me know.
