Deputy President William Ruto has donated equipment worth millions to various youth and women groups across Nairobi county in a new strategy meant to appeal to the so called hustler nation.

In his latest donation made on Thursday, July 2, the philanthropic politician distributed an assortment of equipment which included car washing machines, water tanks, sound, laundry and catering equipment to 30 youth and women groups who met him at his Karen official residence.

“We are devoted to supporting and offering efficient, effective and innovative entrepreneurship training and solutions to young people running small and medium-sized businesses so that they can overcome obstacles, …

…Make use of their untapped potential and realise their dreams and aspirations. In turn, this will boost their incomes, generate jobs and inspire youths to take charge of their lives. The programme targets 5,000 young entrepreneurs,” Ruto tweeted.

The beneficiaries came from Embakasi East, Embakasi South, Dagoretti North and Kamukunji constituencies in Nairobi county.

In his message to the youth, Ruto who often says he started small by rearing chicken at his Sugoi farm, said he knew what dreams are as he saluted everyone who was taking the first step towards fulfilling them.

“Ideas will forever remain ideas and dreams will remain just dreams, and we will never know what we can make, what we can get and who we can be until we make the first move; until you take the first step,”he said.

On June 18, the DP said the revival of the small micro enterprises run by the youth and women was fundamental to the economic recovery of the country following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
