The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) announced that it will close a section of Lang’ata road for eight hours.
In a public notice issued on Wednesday, 10th November, KeNHA informed motorists and other road users that Lang’ata Road will be closed on Sunday, 14th November from 5:00 am to 12.00 noon.
The closure is to pave way for the erection of Nyayo Footbridge along the route. This will affect the free flow of traffic from the Nyayo Stadium Roundabout that may even further affect Mombasa Road traffic.
Due to the closure, The Langata – Nairobi bound traffic will be diverted to the Madaraka Roundabout. The motorists will then be allowed to only use Aerodrome Road into Bunyala Roundabout.
KeNHA has further advised motorists plying the affected routes to comply with the traffic marshalls.
“KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with the police and traffic marshalls on site. Motorists are further urged to exercise caution and road courtesy for better management of traffic,” KeNHA stated.
The roadworks are part of the ongoing construction of the Nairobi Expressway. The construction is currently standing at 75 per cent, while the progress of the construction of the operation and monitoring center now stands at 98 per cent.
The 27-kilometre expressway running from Mlolongo to the James Gichuru Junction at Westlands is set to be completed by 2022.
