Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka risks getting his name and political career tarnished after a woman, who claims to be carrying his child, went to court, demanding Ksh25 million for the unborn baby’s support.
The unidentified woman alleged that Speaker Lusaka had refused to take responsibility of their unborn child. In a court order sought by her lawyer, Danstan Omari, on Monday 21st June, the woman wants the Speaker to either pay the Ksh25million or give a monthly upkeep fee of Ksh200,000 to take care of their unborn child’s and its mother’s needs to prevent any chances of future neglect.
“That the respondent despite being a man of means, has refused and ignored to take care of the applicant’s pre-natal clinics necessary to ensure the wellbeing of the unborn child perhaps in the hope of stressing the applicant and causing a miscarriage of their unborn child,” read part of the court documents.
The woman said that she is unemployed and cannot provide for her child’s needs. She also claimed that Lusaka had abandoned her since he learnt of her pregnancy and “yet the speaker was fully aware of the mutual understanding of engaging in unprotected intercourse for years now”.
This comes barely a week after former Trade minister and Unctad boss Mukhisa Kituyi’s nude video was leaked. Cases of prominent leaders being entangled with young women have recently been on the increase.
