East African Community and Regional Development cabinet secretary Adan Mohammed’s move to appoint Ewaso Ng’iro South Development Authority, managing director Sammy Naporos as the acting managing director of Kerio Valley Development Authority is meeting silent resistance by politicians and section of senior staff.
Sources within KVDA claim that majority of the staff wanted an insider to act but not an outsider, for own personal gains.
To complicate matters was the decision by Mohammed to second five other senior officers from the ministry and regional authorities to work with the acting MD and KVDA staff to normalise operations of the institution following the recent arrest and arraignment in court of KVDA staff over the Arror and Kimwarer dams’ scandal.
Fear is, those seconded are government spies out to uncover ill happenings as it was plotted at Kenya Revenue Authority.
EACRD principal secretary Margaret Mwakima introduced the new acting managing director to the KVDA staff at the authority’s headquarters in Eldoret and assured them of the ministry’s full support as the institution delivers on its development mandate.
Immediate former KVDA managing director Francis Kipkech with other senior KVDA staff were arrested and arraigned before court over alleged corruption in the Sh63 billion Arror and Kimwarer dam projects in Elgeyo Marakwet county.
At the function with PS were ministry’s secretary for administration John Chelimo, acting director regional development Maina Kiondo and human resource management and development director Albert Mokua.
