The vocal and long time Tangatanga outfit Nominated MP David Ole Sankok has come out explain why he seemed to have ditched the Deputy President William Ruto’s camp amid Jubilee purge that is seen targeting the DP’s brigade.
Sankok has been in the front line when it comes to DP Ruto’s support but has been silent on the ongoing purge that has seen a number of Ruto allies kicked out from leadership positions in the Senate.
Sankok also welcomed the Jubilee Party’s merger agreement with Baringo County Senator Gideon Moi’s KANU party, contrary to his Tangatanga counterparts who have vehemently disputed the changes.
Speaking during an exclusive interview on Tuesday 26 May, Sankok reiterated that he owed allegiance to the ruling Jubilee party and its leadership, pledging to toe the line.
Attributing to the Senate Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting at Statehouse that senators allied to the DP failed to attend, Sankok acknowledged that it is of great importance for all party members to attend meetings they have been invited to by their party leader.
“Supporting somebody for the ambition of 2022 does not mean that we have suspended the Constitution of Kenya and the Constitution of our party. We still have our party leader, we still have our President. Surely, if our party leader calls for a Parliamentary Group meeting, it will be insubordination for anyone not to attend, ” Sonkok stated.
“It will be total insubordination and disloyalty for anyone to refuse to attend because we still have one party leader,” he added.
Sankok also noted that a large number of lawmakers elected on Jubilee Party tickets owed their poll victories and loyalty to the party’s popularity.
