Chief administrative secretary in the ministry of Energy Simon Kachapin has dismissed reports appearing in a section of the media implying that he had joined Kanu and told his political critics that he is in Jubilee to stay and warned the current West Pokot governor John Lonyangapou against cheap propaganda.
He said that he will contest the gubernatorial seat on Jubilee and insisted that he is ready to take on Lonyangapou in 2022 general elections.
“Prepare for a political battle in the year 2022, as I am set to reclaim my seat that I lost to you narrowly,” Kachapin told Governor Lonyangapou.
“I want to state clearly that, I am in Jubilee to stay and the likes of Governor Lonyangapou who was elected on a Kanu ticket should stop interfering with our Jubilee party and instead let him focus on their Kanu matters,” Kachapin said adding that at no time had he visited any Kanu leader including Baringo senator Gideon Moi over political issues, in West Pokot county. Kachapin said that those propagating the matter were scared of his increased political popularity in the region.
“Why should I move out of Jubilee. This is my party of choice and those peddling rumours that I have moved out of Jubilee have their own agenda which I am not going to entertain,” he said.
Speaking to the press after jetting back from Australia on official duties, Kachapin said that his main agenda for now is to help Uhuru Kenyatta in his big four agenda adding that those thinking that he is a political toddler will be surprised come 2022 general elections.
Speaking in another forum West Pokot senator Samwel Poghisio who has severed links with Lonyangapou insisted that he will support Kachapin come 2022 general elections.
Senator Poghisio said that Kachapin has proved to the entire world that he has the heart of helping the Pokot community and once more apologised to the Pokots for supporting Lonyangapou during the 2018 general elections.
Kapenguria MP Samwel Moroto on his part criticised those propagating lies that Kachapin had defected to Kanu saying they are fully behind him in Jubilee and asked those trying to undermine him to stop.
The leaders who included John Lodinyo, Stephen Koliamuk, speaker of Pokot county assembly Catherine Mukenyang said they regretted supporting Lonyangapou and asked Pokots to reject him.
