Bliss Healthcare Limited has appointed Dr. Gabriel Njue as its Chief Operating Officer, taking over from Dr. Selepe Percival from South Africa.

Bliss Healthcare is the largest integrated network of outpatient Medical Centres in Kenya with 70 Medical Centres spread across 38 Counties in Kenya and serves over 80,000 patients monthly.

To measure the socioeconomic effects of the pandemic and inform mitigation and recovery strategies, the World Bank has launched a Rapid Response Phone Surveys (RRPS) in collaboration with the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and University of California, Berkeley.

The bi-monthly survey started in May 2020 and includes Kenyan nationals, refugees, and stateless households. Five rounds of the RRPS are completed and the sixth round is currently ongoing. Weekly results of the survey can be seen in an online dashboard.

Dr. Gabriel Njue holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Nairobi, a Master of Science from the University of London, Post Graduate training in Healthcare Management from University of Georgia.

Dr. Njue brings with him a wealth of experience in Healthcare Management having previously served in Kenyatta National Hospital, Nairobi Women’s Hospital as Chief of Medical Service, Equity Afia as the Chief of Party, St Mary’s Mission Hospitals as Chief Executive Officer and Penda Health as the Head of Clinical Services.

In line with the observed coping strategies, food consumption reduced for many Kenyan households, leading to high levels of food insecurity. Almost every second Kenyan had not enough food at the beginning of the crisis. The situation improved in October – November 2020 when less than one in three Kenyans remained food insecure.

However, since January 2021 food insecurity is on the rise again almost reaching levels almost similar to the beginning of the crisis. Poor and rural households are generally more food insecure.

Kenyans followed various preventive measures to curb the spread of the virus as the pandemic began. However, as restrictions on movement continued and the number of Covid-19 infections decreased, ‘pandemic fatigue’ reduced compliance with physical distancing measures such as avoiding large groups (dropping from 99 to 73percent) and staying at home (dropping from 66 to 27percent).

Data from several sources show a dramatic increase in the number of households struggling to put enough food on the table. Some 20 million adults — 10 percent of all adults in the country — reported that their household sometimes or often didn’t have enough to eat in the last seven days

In 2017, Mr Saini and his wife Dr Shalya added inpatient care by setting up two hospitals under LifeCare Hospitals Ltd. Jayesh Saini is currently setting up another 6 facilities geographically spread in Kenya bringing total bed capacity to 2000.

Jayesh also owns DINLAS Pharma EPZ Limited, a 30-million dollar pharmaceutical firm focusing mainly on Africa market for drug supply.

As a common good, water is a shared natural resource and we believe that the smallest of efforts add up to make a huge difference. At Dinlas Pharma their intention is to improve water management by focusing on optimization, reuse and recycle of this resource.

Believing in the principle of 3R’s, we have made efforts to reduce our water consumption by adopting best practices, alternatively reusing and recycling the treated wastewater in cooling towers, boilers and landscaping.

Waste water Management:-

Dinlas Pharma understand that ‘wastewater is a resource’ that can be adequately treated to successfully satisfy most water demands, simultaneously achieving pollution prevention and reduction in wastewater discharges. We have Effluent treatment plant which will take care of process water and discharge chemical free water to the Municipal sewer lines. Hence preserving the environment.

Solar Energy:-

Dinlas Pharma is a responsible business entity, trying its best to use solar energy whenever possible as part of environmental energy policy.
